January 4th, 2012 - French Day
French day started off with French Toast, of course! Plus Patrick had a Riviera coffee cup, and I had a 'kisses' mug for my tea.

The weather was supposed to get iffy by the afternoon, so we packed up and went to Frenchman's Bar for a roller blade. It has been years since we had the roller blades out, so it took us a while to remember how to actually *do* it.

From Frenchman's Bar, there is a really good view of both Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood (if the day is clear enough).

The further we went, the better we got at roller blading. We went all the way from Frenchman's Bar to Vancouver Lake Park (about 3 miles each way). From Vancouver Lake Park, we could still see Mt. Hood, but clouds had completely covered Mt. St. Helens, and it even sprinkled on us a bit.

It was good exercise.
When we got home, we had French Onion Soup (two bowls each, because they're best when fresh out of the oven).

After an afternoon of actual work, it was time for dinner. Dinner was going to be wine, cheese and fruit, however, Patrick, who lived in France for a time, assured me that in Nice, in the South of France, they eat pizza all the time. So we opted for the leftover Pizza from Italian day!

We watched a movie, The Da Vinci Code, which takes place mostly in Paris, while doing another puzzle - my favorite New Years puzzle, which also involves a lot of champagne.
